I am Kaique Dias.

Software engineer, and currently lead of a sustainment squad.

My work happens in that fun part of software engineering where the system is already in production, customers are using it, business rules have piled up over the years, and there is a healthy amount — or not so healthy — of legacy code.

In practice, I end up working quite close to what people now call FDE — Forward Deployed Engineer.

I am constantly between technology and the business: chasing bugs, making sense of odd behavior, talking through rules, designing solutions, helping the team, and trying to figure out whether something is actually a bug or a rule from 2021 that nobody remembers why it exists.

Sometimes it is code.

Sometimes it is architecture.

Sometimes it is SQL.

Sometimes it is a meeting that starts with:

“Quick one, just to understand something…”

And it is never quick.

This site exists to record a bit of that journey more slowly.

What I am building, what I am studying, the decisions I made, the mistakes I made, and mostly how my way of thinking about software engineering changes over time.

The blog comes first.

The portfolio shows up later, on the same domain — when it makes sense to show projects and stories, not just a wall of technology logos.
